Attention all Seniors! Due to inclement weather we will not be able to hold Dixie's graduation on the football field. We are now moving graduation into the Dixie gym. Unfortunately, due to social distancing guidelines we cannot fit everyone into the gym at one time. Therefore we will be hosting two graduation ceremonies on Thursday, May 28, 2020. The first ceremony will be at 5:30 pm and the second ceremony will be at 7:30 pm. It is very important that your senior check their email for information about which ceremony they are assigned to. Students will still only really receive two tickets. West Carolina will still be streaming both ceremonies.

The final packet drop-off day will be Tuesday, May 26 from 8 am until 4 pm. Students need to return any work that they have completed, textbooks, Chromebooks, library books, and any other school property. We will also be selling Dixie High School face masks for $10.

Abbeville County School District (ACSD) is excited to hold in-person graduation for our seniors in the AHS and DHS football stadiums. ACSD will be following the guidelines suggested by the South Carolina State Department of Education (SCDE), the Governor's Executive Orders, and others. We are asking the public to support the District by following the procedures put in place to ensure the safety of all in attendance. All graduating seniors will be given guidelines for the graduation ceremony specific to their school. We encourage attendees to please read over these carefully before the ceremony. Guests will be instructed on the time gates open, where to park, where to enter and exit, etc. We will provide live-streaming of the ceremonies.
DHS will hold graduation May 28, 2020 at 6:00 PM. The rain date will be May 30, 2020 at 6:00 PM.
After conferring with Abbeville Area Medical Center on the expected dates for the peak number of positive COVID-19 cases for Abbeville County and following the suggested guidelines set forth by the SCDE, the District is limiting the number of guests to 2 persons per graduate. Tickets will be required for entry. Guests will be required to maintain social distancing of 6 feet while on school campus. No one will be allowed to congregate in parking lots before and after the ceremony. All guests are encouraged to wear masks. Spectators without tickets will not be allowed on campus.

Students also need to clean out their lockers and pick up medicines left with Nurse Brown. Yearbooks will be distributed to the students who purchased them.
The school administrators and faculty will follow social distancing guidelines and will be in the parking lot to provide students with instructions on what they need to do.

Per State Superintendent Molly Spearman, schools will remain closed for the rest of the year. More details will be forthcoming about procedures for turning in instructional packets, returning devices and textbooks, and gathering items from lockers. Please understand, just because we are not returning for face-to-face instruction does not mean instruction stops for this school year. We remain committed to having students ready for the next grade, course, or next steps post-graduation. Stay tuned for more information in the coming days and stay safe!
