Parents and Guardians for a great opening to the school year. As you know we've adjusted the afternoon schedule to accommodate bus routes and have reverted back to last year's dismissal time of 2:20 for bus riders, followed by car riders. We appreciate you adjusting your pickup times to accommodate the traffic pattern and alleviate the backup.
As a reminder, our mornings begin with instruction at 7:45. The kids have done a wonderful job of getting in and getting started. We'd appreciate your efforts to get your riders here between 7:00 and 7:40 so they may begin their day with breakfast. Should the need arise for an arrival after 7:45 we must ask that you sign your student in at the office.

Meet the Panthers will be at Hite Stadium on Tuesday, August 15, from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. All sports teams represented, there will be giveaways, and food trucks will have a variety of food available for purchase. This is a free event for the community!
Due to changes in bus schedules, Westwood will begin dismissal at 2:20 today. We will follow this schedule for the remainder of the school year!

We are excited to announce that our school will open at 7:00 am this year because we are now first in the morning for bus drop off. This will allow our school day to begin at 7:00 am and late arrival would be at 7:45 am. Our teachers will begin instruction daily at 7:45 am. Our dismissal this year will again be 2:20. As always thank you for your support.
Westwood will host a mobile book giveaway on Monday, July 31. Westwood faculty will arrive on a school bus at the following locations and times to give students books (while supplies last):
8:45 am - Oakland Apartments
9:15 am - Carver Apartments
9:45 am - Calhoun Apartments
10:30 am - Ingles
These locations are meant to serve students living in the vicinity of these areas, not just students who live in the apartments. We look forward to seeing all of the students!
If we run out of books, students will receive a coupon to choose a book once they return to school.
Our Back to School Night and Title I Meeting is on July 27 from 5:00-6:30 pm. Students and their families will be able to meet teachers and drop of supplies. We look forward to seeing everyone!

Report Card pickup will be 1:15-3:30 in the front office today (Thu).
This call is to inform you that we will not have a Summer Reading Camp this year. Please encourage your child to read over the summer break. Westwood plans to continue to work with all students who are not reading on grade level during next school year.
If your child received a Beta Club invitation and have not paid your child's Beta Club dues, please send $25 to Mrs. Stanley by tomorrow. If you need to set up a payment plan please arrange that with Mrs. Stanley. All checks need to be made payable to WWES. Your child was given info today to join the Beta Club Class Dojo page. Please make sure to do so as soon as possible. Thank you!

Congratulations to all of our Westwood students who have earned the privilege of participating in our 4th nine weeks Green Zone Water Day! This party will be tomorrow, Wednesday, May 24th. We ask that your child bring a change of clothes and a towel in a plastic grocery bag to change into after water day. If possible, please allow your child to wear shoes that can get wet (flip flops, water shoes, Crocs). If not, please send an extra pair of shoes. The wet clothes will be returned in the grocery bag.
Due to inclement weather conditions, our Perfect Attendance Event was cancelled today as well as the PBIS Celebration scheduled for tomorrow. Both events will be re-scheduled if at all possible.
4th Grade students at Westwood will take the Science portion of the SC READY test tomorrow, May 17th. This is the last state assessment for this school year.
Please make sure your 4th grade child gets plenty of rest, eats a good breakfast, and arrives to school early.

SCReady testing will begin on May 9th. ELA testing will be on May 9th and 10th. Math testing will be on May 16th. Science testing will be on May 17th (4th grade only). There will be a perfect testing attendance party on May 18th. Makeup testing will take place on May 11th, 12th, 15th, 18th, and 19th.
